Making a Difference

The Lucky Brand Foundation seeks out charitable organizations who are led by people dedicated to making the lives of children happier and more hopeful. The tireless efforts of these organizations remain true to the heart of the Lucky Brand Foundation. It is an honor and inspiration to be associated with them.

Organizations include:

Association for Children with Down Syndrome
ACDS offers training and education for children with Down Syndrome. Donations from the Lucky Brand Foundation have funded a playground and an audiological testing suite which allows for diagnosis and close monitoring of hearing loss in children, allowing ACDS to maximize the educational potential of each child.

The Bridge School
The Bridge School is dedicated to improving education for children with severe speech and physical impairments. Donations from the Lucky Brand Foundation fund the school's two-week Building Bridges Summer Camp.

Camp Del Corazon
Camp Del Corazon is a non-profit ACA accredited camp specializing in children with heart disease or with a history of heart disease. The camp is held on beautiful Catalina Island over the Labor Day weekend.

Camp I Can
Camp I Can is a summer day camp for children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Each summer the Lucky Brand Foundation assists in sending 125 kids to camp.

Camp Ronald McDonald For Good Times
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times provides fun-filled medically supervised, cost-free year round camp for children with cancer and their families.

Camp Sundown
The Foundation helps fund sessions at this camp specifically for children suffering from Xeroderma Pigmentosum, a rare genetic defect causing severe sensitivity to all sources of UV radiation (especially sunlight) The Foundation has also built an indoor swimming pool so that campers can enjoy a summer swim without exposure to UV rays.

Chase Place
Chase Place is an organization that builds special art therapy rooms for seriously ill children at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Funds from the Foundation have built rooms and assist in the staffing of these rooms.

Children's Burn Foundation
This Foundation provides money to meet the special needs of children suffering severe burns caused by abuse, neglect or accident. The Lucky Brand Foundation has funded several reconstructive surgeries for these children.

Children's Health Fund
This organization improves the health of underserved children by delivering medical care to rural and urban areas. The Lucky Brand Foundation has funded the cost of building a bus to serve the mental health needs of the children displaced by Hurricane Katrina now living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Children's Hospital Los Angeles Division of Rheumatology
The Lucky Brand Foundation provides an ongoing fund for this Division to take care of the special needs of children suffering from inflammatory and non-inflammatory rheumatic diseases including juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, scleroderma and vasculitis.

CHIME Charter Elementary School
CHIME Charter Elementary School provides a setting where children (K-5) with disabilities are welcomed as equal members of the classroom. The Foundation has granted CHIME money to purchase adaptive equipment for their playground and to rebuild their kindergarten yard.

Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America
The Lucky Brand Foundation has donated funds toward the operation of this organization's summer camp, which serves children in Southern California suffering from Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis.

Dream Street Foundation
Dream Street provides camping programs for children with chronic and life threatening illnesses including cancer, AIDS and blood disorders. These children are given the opportunity to enjoy activities they would normally be restricted from due to their illness. The Foundation has contributed funds to operate these camps.

The Fulfillment Fund
The Fulfillment Fund is a mentoring program working with the LAUSD. Donations from the Lucky Brand Foundation allow students with physical disabilities to participate in the Teen Access Program (TAP) by providing them with the necessary equipment. The Foundation also funds an annual holiday party.

Inside Out Community Arts
Inside Out Community Arts serves middle school youth with mental and emotional disabilities living at Metropolitan State Hospital in Southern California. Contributions from the Foundation enable these children to participate in art therapy programs designed to enhance their treatment and recovery process.

Island Dolphin Care
Island Dolphin Care is a special dolphin-assisted therapy program developed to help children and their families cope with various developmental, physical and/or emotional difficulties. Donations from the Lucky Brand Foundation fund additional camp sessions serving children from all over the country allowing them to swim with dolphins as a means of rehabilitation and a source of comfort and healing.

Lucky Smiles® at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles
The Lucky Brand Foundation funds this program which provides life-changing cleft palate surgeries for children, literally making it possible to bring smiles to the faces of those plagued by this very common and very repairable birth defect. In addition to actual surgeries on infants, children and adolescents, the Lucky Smiles® program provides funds for much-needed equipment, the Nasoaveolar Molding Program and self-esteem programs for girls and boys born with congenital disfigurements of their face.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles
Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions. The Lucky Brand Foundation has granted several wishes to these children.

Mychals Learning Place
The Lucky Brand Foundation has funded various activities at Mychals Learning Place, which provides social and recreational programs to children with developmental disabilities.

The National Ability Center
The National Ability Center is committed to the development of lifetime skills for people of all ages and abilities by providing affordable outdoor sports and recreational experiences in a nurturing environment. Contributions from the Lucky Brand Foundation have funded the Alpine Skiing program, leadership development program and a horseback riding program.

Oralingua School for the Hearing Impaired
Oralingua School serves the needs of school age children by teaching them to hear with the use of cochlear implants. Funds donated from the Foundation have built classrooms, purchased video equipment to assist in tracking students' developmental growth and purchased vans to transport kids to their activities.

Pediatric IBD Center at Cedars Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles, California
The Lucky Brand Foundation provides funds to Dr. Marla Dubinksy for her research on children suffering from Cohn's and colitis with the goal of ultimately finding a cure for these types of irritable bowel diseases.

PS Arts
Restoring arts education programs to schools in disadvantaged areas is the goal of P.S. Arts. Through this organization, the Lucky Brand Foundation has funded arts activities for special needs classrooms at Walgrove Elementary School in Venice, California.

Ride On
The Lucky Brand Foundation supports this program which teaches horseback riding to children and adults with physical and mental disorders.

Shane's Inspiration
The Lucky Brand Foundation contributed to the building of Shane's Inspiration, a universally accessible playground at Griffith Park in Los Angeles where both disabled and able-bodied children play together. It was the first wheelchair-friendly playground on the West Coast. The Foundation also helped fund Aidan's Place, a public, wheelchair-friendly park in Westwood, California.

The Smile Train
Eradicating cleft lips and plates in third-world countries is The Smile Train's goal and donations from the Lucky Brand Foundation have funded numerous surgeries in developing countries.

Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation
This international non-profit organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families. The Lucky Brand Foundation has helped fund their in-hospital activities.

Teddy Bear Cancer Fund
Through this Fund, the Lucky Brand Foundation has helped to provide financial support for families who are dealing with cancer.

Time For Life
Established in 1999, Time For Life is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and implementing programs and services to meet the needs of children with cancer and their families. The Lucky Brand Foundation has funded summer camp for these children.

University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics
The Lucky Brand Foundation supports the Department of Pediatrics with donations to its pediatric mobile unit which provides healthcare to the underserved, uninsured children of South Miami and "Children First," a program that supports life-saving treatment and preventative care for all children, regardless of their ability to pay.

Vista Del Mar Child and Family Service
Vista del Mar is dedicated to the well-being and care of children and families in Southern California who suffer the emotional, physical, psychological and social consequences of abuse, neglect and abandonment. The Lucky Brand Foundation purchased new computers for their library.
